RCE-L開創了執行機構應用的新觀念，它以微處理器為基礎配以相應的硬件和軟件，實現電動執行機構智能化控制。如執行機構控制命令的組態輸入，位置PID功能的選擇，全行程速度可調，改變閥門特性的十六點曲線設定，儲存電機溫度，執行機構動作次數的自診斷功能等，幾乎適用于電動執行機構的所有應用模式。

對于電動執行機構而言RCE-L是一個全數字式的管理系統，這是基于RCE-L執行機構經驗證的機械部分所保證的。控制的中心是微處理器，實現電機控制及外部通訊的管理，使執行機構從簡單的模擬控制上升到復雜的控制，包括內部的控制器和現場總線的界面等功能。
